Headstands have nothing to do with weight and everything to do with strength AND flexibility. Muscles memorize the movements you maintain. Sometimes I find it easier to let go of the 'i used to be able to do...blah blah blah' and just go ahead and do the 'blah blah blah'. Whatever that may be.. whether you're getting a helping hand, prop or wall. You can still do it! And if not, you can try. You may just be surprised how strong you've become because there is no losing it. You control this practice, so, who chose to let it go? Youre only as strong as you believe sometimes, even when you're encountering a crappy situation. That eensy bit of strength, can take you far. Dont give up. 💕

How To L Sit:
1. Start off in Staff Pose
2. Place your hands between your hips & your knees, shoulder width apart (having them closer to your hips makes it much more difficult to lift up)
3. Press through the hands & shoulders to lift your hips up
4. Squeeze with your core & draw your hips backwards - This is really key to getting the feet to come off of the mat
5. Extend through the legs strongly to float the feet.

Hey! It's been a while:) .
There have been a couple of things happening in my life for the past few weeks and I took some time to try to clear my thoughts.
Perhaps you may have heard something about my city too (Hong Kong🇭🇰). There is this extradition to mainland China bill which have been arousing many conflicts, because passing the bill can put the freedom we've been enjoying for decades at stake. Huge protests have been going on and lives were even sacrificed for fighting against this bill. Just like many of the citizens, watching the news every day really made me feel sick and I couldn't even sleep well just to think about the future of Hong Kong. .
I'm really not good at handling these kinds of heavy topics, but one more thing happened was problems in my relationship. About 2 years ago, my heart was also broken at that time and I had quite a dark time for a long period. This time, plus what has been going on in my city, I was really lost and didn't know what else I could do apart from staying heartbroken at first. All I knew was I would never go back to the 2-year ago me, I made a promise to myself that I tried my best to keep the promise. I learned a lot in the past month, rediscovering myself and truly loving myself. I tried to stay positive and happy in every second I have for my life. It's crazy to think that I never really have the goal to be happy in my life. I mean I certainly like the feelings to be happy but it was never a strong desire for me. This month has been insane, for how much I have transformed in this depressing stage of life.
Negative feelings still come to me from time to time, but I think I'm slowly reaching the happy state that I'll just be my biggest supporter and even when bad time comes, I know I'll soon be fine again.
I'm really excited for the journey ahead. The present me is probably the best version of myself ever.

Honestly, many of you think that my entire life revolves around fitness. While I wish it did, it truly doesn’t. My diet is like a part of my life now, it is not difficult and it is not overly restrictive. I don’t like drinking too much anymore and I have cool friends who are okay if I accompanied their drinking with my coffee. I workout for an hour a day, and then carry on with my schedule (work, etc.). The purpose of this Instagram account is to take like-minded people like you along with me on my fitness journey and do my little bit to convince the others to take up an active lifestyle that comes naturally to me and mine. So you also can be as fit as so many doctors, business owners and other people from all walks of like and all careers that you can fathom. All you need is to get used to eating wisely and making sure you workout for 4-5 hours a week. Just as you are used to drinking with friends or meeting them for a couple of hours a week, you will get used to the workout and the healthier lifestyle also.⁠

💚I’m sharing 6 yoga poses and some adapted poses that I use and love when focusing on lower body strengthening in my yoga home practice and classes .

👣Big toe hold
Strengths standing leg, balance, and hip rotation
.
🧡Chair pose with lifted leg + 1/2 fold
Strengthens balance as you lift 1 foot off and lean forward also strengthen core as you try to balance lower without sinking into standing hip .
🌈Low lunge
Strengthen thighs and glute of back leg .
⚔️Warrior 3 with bent leg
Strengthens thigh of standing leg and also the hamstring of back leg extended backwards
. 🐶 Down Dog with lateral lift
My FAVE hip strengthener! Taking the leg out to side whilst keeping hips square to front not only tests balance and hip strength but core also
⚡️TOP TIP : You will feel like you want to dump into your standing leg as you lift the leg off but try not to, instead press even more so through your hands and shoulders to keep the upper body stable .
👠Chair pose with lifted heels 👠
You know I love a heel pop - why? Because it’s such a simple way to add more strength to your yoga because by taking the heel off you increase the muscular tension your upper thigh and calf are under which is a different way to build strength .

TEACHING TIPS 🌟
🧘🏻‍♀️I would recommend taking 3,5,8 breaths in each pose think #timeundertension builds strength up
.
🧘🏻‍♀️This sequence is low impact so is safe to do 2x a week just make sure you’ve rested the lower body in between flows
.
🧘🏻‍♀️When holding a posture remember to find focus point to help steady balance and the mind. I find sometimes reciting a mantra in long holds is nice also .
🧘🏻‍♀️Remember to be guided by your body not your ego so any pain please come out pose immediately .

I am soo HAPPY that I can get into a deeper backbend (Forearm wheel) 🤩
Mainly because for the longest time I struggled and assumed that I am not ready for it BUT I checked the technique on YouTube and pretty much got into it straight away 😍

Class today was at Abbey Leisure Centre, Pity Me: 9:30-10:30am. No class next week (23rd) or week after (30th), back on the 6th August, if you didn’t get the message & have already booked in for next week then please just call reception or pop in when you’re in the gym, they will sort this for you. We move into our house on Friday mid renovation & we I need to do busy & potentially unsafe work whilst they kids are in childcare, so that when they are home the house is safe & mammy & Daddy are not too busy to play with them!
