This was the first time ever I wore my brand new @obozfootwear hiking shoes. Zero blisters or sore spots and great arch support. Just sucks when you get water inside the waterproof shoes! Thankfully they dried out quickly (unlike my socks...). Highly recommend these hiking shoes!

In the meanwhile I'll continue with Phase 2, just 3 more weeks left. Trying to get in a workout 5 times a week now, but sometimes it'll be 1 workout, like last week, and that's all right. Cause life happens. Also want to continue with my forrest runs now. Doing a 21km race with my best friend in april! .

@gregjustlift here... I'm sitting in YUL waiting to cross the ocean for this year's World Weightlifting Championship, and for the first time in months I feel like I've got time to reflect... All I can say is: 'Wow.' What a summer we've had! I want to take a moment to make note of what this club has recently accomplished now that summer's come to a close.

In May @thedavesavage2, after years of pushing, made it to Nationals. Coach @cierramm earned her Competition Development certification. I'm not sure I know how to articulate the pride I felt seeing those two hit those milestones! @julialiftsbig and @rich.davidson retained their titles as Canadian Champions, while @erikost20 also earned himself a Bronze. We also had @stevesmudge join the coaching team who, beyond coaching, has been instrumental in helping us with our re-imagining of how we accomplish our gym's mission!

We had a bit of a breather in June, but not that's just because we were planning. On the Canada Day weekend our coaching team tirelessly worked to completely reconfigure the gym's layout. The best part? We did it because so many of our members have matured as lifters, and we had to change our approach because of their successes. ▪️▪️▪️
August was just as busy! @curiousheather08 became an International Master's Weightlifting Champion, scoring herself World Records in the Clean and Jerk and Total. @m_apostoleris took her lifting to a new level, joining us for the summer to train for Master's World's. Like Heather she came prepared! We walked away with a Bronze in one of the most competitive categories of the event! Finally, we had a bunch of new Weightlifters compete (or register to compete) at their first competition! You know what has me really pumped about this last point? We saw lifters of all levels from our club come together to support them. In fact, just writing about and realizing that we have 'vets' of all levels ushering these new folks in makes me feel all warm and sentimental.

This has been one of the best summer's in the club's history. I'm beyond thankful for everyone who's been a part of it, and proud to call you all my friends!

I’m not really a quote type of person - but some stuff, I like to take them to my life journey. Unless you have a health condition that prevents you from certain things, I’m a huge believer of never say “I don’t have time for it.” It’s literally depending on your priority. You might have a long hour job, family, partner, friends, other hobbies etc., they are all excuses in my opinion. I made a big life change and let go of a big part of my life to go look for want I want personally too - I might not have what someone else does, but I made a decision to not have it at this point of my life, so I can go get what I truly want. It’s up to you wether you keep the condition you have currently or let go of it, but if you decide to stay where you are at (and I respect that), then take a responsibility of your choice instead of “I’m busy.” - So am I. 😬😬😬😬😬

Every time I need a moment of clarity I get away. I need my space to see what I want, who I am, a moment to feel like ME. They say you create the noise in your head that attracts all of the noise and that’s what was happening in my life. I am working from home building two businesses in the midst of mothering two toddlers, and we almost called it quits on our marriage. I decided to take a break from life and go to a place where I can be me. I’m HOME for only 4 more days and I already feel some peace.⁣

It’s ok to take a break. Sometimes the most powerful thing is clarity but your first step is confusion. You need to have questions in order to find answers. When you take that break, engage, find yourself, make movements, and be free. ⁣

I am so in love with my new tummy and my cute belly button! 😍
I'm still swollen and my stomach feels hard to the touch. Becoming really itchy under the binder I have to wear all day. But I am glad I can take a shower each morning with the help of my mom.
I go for my 2nd post op appointment on Wednesday to remove the last drain and to get my faja that I will wear daily for the nxt few months.
I still get teary eyed at what I see. I can already feel the newness in the love I carry for myself. The psychological effects of my weight loss have been shared and documented, and it gives me so much insight onto who I have had to become as a person with major life changes in order to get to a real point of satisfaction.
I no longer feel defeated. I feel hopeful. I feel joy. I feel excited about what else is to come.

It's been a crazy amazing year of growth, change, learning, discovery. There's a saying - I've heard #marilynmonroe said it but I'm not sure if that's true - that 'sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.' Competition videos and long post! I didn’t post last night because I passed out right after my shower. The first two events didn’t go as I wanted but the other three went well. I managed to squeak out a first place win, mainly because I was the only one in my category, lol, but I got my bid to Nationals and that was the goal of this comp. Team @westernmastrong did awesome and all won bids to nationals! A big thanks to coach @worlds_strongest_gay for getting me to this point.
Now it’s time to get strong enough to compete with the badass women in the super heavyweight open class! I’ve just gotta put 50-100+ lbs on my lifts!

Videos 1-3: deadlift was first, which kind of sucked. I went for 285, 315, and 335. 285 was great, 315 was good and my previous PR. I really wanted a new PR but 335 just didn’t go. I’m happy I missed what would have been a big PR instead of going for something smaller and maybe getting it. Go big or go home, right?

Videos 4-6: axle overhead press was second. Plan was 120-130-140. First lift was great. Second lift was heavy. Because they misloaded the bar and jumped straight to 140. You can see me questioning the weight during the clean and again between my attempts but they insisted it was right...I tried hard but missed the lift and then they realized the mistake. They let me do “attempt 2” again at the right weight but I was gassed and in my head and failed. This was a heart breaker because I knew I should have gotten 130 up. Not gonna lie, there were tears after this one. .
Video 7: Viking squat went up to 345 I think. Didn’t have the drive to push for the last weight because I didn’t need it. This was fine. .
Video 8: h-stone at 125lbs for 80 ft in just a tiny bit over 13 seconds made me really happy

Video 9: atlas stone to shoulder amrap at 100lbs. Changed from 125 lbs for some reason. I was happy with my 8 reps. The last one was down to the split second.

Still trying to figure out seated good mornings but I felt them more in my hams than usual so I think I’m moving in the right direction.
Tanis and I spent all yesterday packing and made a good dent but have a lot left to do. I’m so ready to just be moved and done. I’m feeling very antsy!!!!

Katie came in for her first skill session last week. She's been struggling with her Olympic lifting, primarily keeping the bar close (as seen on the first video). The following videos are drills we did to fix her starting position and practice pulling the bar right next to her body.

We put the boxes in front of Katie to give her immediate feedback on when she was swinging the PVC pipe, and then the bar, away from her as opposed to pulling the bar. If the pipe or bar hit the boxes (which it did the first few tries) she knew right away the bar was coming out too far. -----------------------------
Once Katie showed improvement with keeping the bar close (it didn't take too long!), we moved away from the boxes and started adding a small amount of weight. We first worked the same drills , high pulls, then moved on to the full snatch. By the end of the session, Katie was moving the bar much better, had improved her starting position, and kept her back flatter during the lift. If you compare the first video to the last (we know it's a LOT of swiping), you'll see the bar stay much closer to her, and her catch the bar in a stronger position!

I AM happy with my performance😊
9th out of 70 amazing and strong women💪🏼🏋🏼‍♀️
In one year, I jumped my total from 124 -> 157!
I’m proud I held it together on the snatches, shook off that first pressout call and made 71, 1 kg off my best.
C&js I’m getting more and more confident getting under heavy weight, I need to trust myself on the jerk and be aggressive.
Even though technically it was a 3/6 with the calls I’m looking at it like I still made 5/6 lifts on the big platform and that pesky elbow just has got to go.
I’ve been stuck at that same 156/157 total for the past 6 months. I know one day it’s going to come together, and soon. #trusttheprocess 🎥 @ainsleytyler17 my teammate bestie😘

Let me give you an example. I have mental health issues. 🧠 Why would I convince myself to love that part of me?? Learning disorders & mental illnesses SUCK. 🤬 But, I have acknowledged that ignoring them only makes me feel worse. By choosing to ACCEPT they are a part of me, and actively working to overcome them, I find happiness more & more everyday. 🤩

☀️It’s one of my favourite days of the week - Sunday!☀️

Sunday is usually my rest day, which honestly, can be HARD for me to do. I am used to going all the time and I love to work hard. For me to do this, I have to PLAN it!
.
Rest days are SO important to recharge your body and mind. If you don’t take one, you’ll end up taking a week or longer in bed sick or with an injury - I’ve learned that one the hard way.
.
You’re NOT going to gain all the weight back if you take a break. I used to be scared of this, exercise addiction is real. Your body will repair so it CAN progress & your mind will re-charge for the challenges of the week ahead.
.
It’s important to schedule minimum ONE Rest Day a week, and PLAN it! Just like your fitness, if you DON’T have a plan and are intentional, you’re NOT going to end up where you want to be.
.
Days off are a LOT easier to take when you spend them with people you love. Truly connect & be present.💕

The only thing that has been less great, have been a few teary incidents which has only happened in recent weeks and given the stress of prep on your body with working full time something’s got to give, you just need to recognise when you need a little extra selfcare sometimes. Never...ever .... have I try front squats...until today. 😂 Idk how yall do it but I had a hard time getting my bvb hand form right. I have little t rex arms so I tried the form with arms crossed. 🤷‍♀️ could've gone up on weight , probably next time since I wanted to make sure how to do these and if I'm doing it wrong let a sista know 💪🤗
I'm definitely adding this to my workout.. I felt like it was a challenge and I'm accepting it 🤪 now time for some cardio 🙄

Who am kidding? Feeling strong tonight with a full body heavy lifting night but I was dying near the end 😜🙃 People always ask about my preferred booty building moves. Honestly I do very little conventional booty exercises. The sled is a great full-body exercise that targets the flutes and legs if you do it properly ( using legs to push through). .
💪🏻deadlifts ( sumo and conventional)
💪🏻Bench-press at 80% max weight
💪🏻pull-ups
💪🏻monkey bars 🐒
💪🏻weighted ropes
