My face when I was told the climb to the finish was 33.5km at 5.5% 😟 Is that a sick joke?! L’Etape du Tour, you broke me, what a challenge. I thought I liked hills but after yesterday, I’m unsure if I ever want to see one again 🤣 It also LITERALLY broke me as it seems I might have fractured my sternum from my crash. Hoping for it to heal quickly 🤞🏼 Thank you so much to @skodagram and @wlcmagazine @welovecyclingirl for this amazing opportunity. I had a blast and met the nicest people 😍

Deadlift variations have a place in most athlete’s training programmes, whether you are a powerlifter focussing on heavy barbell lifts, or doing kettlebell. The benefits of working the hamstrings, glutes and low back with the deadlift are undeniable.
HOW ARE TRAP BAR DEADLIFTS DIFFERENT FROM BARBELL Deadlifts 🤔
First, let’s think about how barbell and trap bar deadlifts are similar. Both train the hip hinge, both involve a similar range of motion and both involve lifting weights off the floor, and putting them down again.
The trap bar dead tends to put more emphasis on the quads, while the barbell deadlift puts more emphasis on the glutes, hamstrings and spinal erectors.
WHY ARE TRAP BAR DEADLIFTS AWESOME?
1. LESS STRESS ON THE LOWER BACK
Barbell deadlifts put a fair amount of force through the lumbar spine. Because the weight is in front of the body, we essentially use the hips as a pivot and the back as a crowbar.
Being ‘inside’ the bar, the weight is closer to your centre of gravity. This means the lever of the ‘crow bar’ is shorter – so there is much less sheer force on the spine. Perfect if you want to train glutes, hamstrings, and low back, without quite as much risk.
2. EASY TO LEARN
With the trap bar, the movement is much less technical. It’s easier to get into a good position with an upright torso and a flat back. The bar doesn’t scrape your shins, your knees come further forward and your hips can sit lower.
3. NO HYPEREXTENSION
With the trap bar dead, the barbell isn’t in front of your hips, so there is no counterbalance to hyperextend against or push off. Trap bar dead ****
Trap bar deadlifts develop the glutes, hamstrings and back. The main benefit is that they put less stress on the lumbar spine than barbell deadlifts which is important for people with back issues. They require less technical proficiency than barbell deadlifts and are easier to learn.

How I plan my sessions & tips:
1* Have a DRAFT training program for 3 months up until your race. This will allow you or your coach to fit everything that should be needed into the program.
2* I usually start my program off with shorter intervals & less volume. Slowly I build up the length of intervals & volume around race pace so the body learns to tolerate it. Obviously not hard 30-40km runs at race pace 🙄 I recommend about 20 seconds slower per Km.
3* Be flexible, meaning don’t be afraid o miss or change a training session .
4*Find some friends for training with (Also be flexible 1k & mile intervals are much the same) compromise so y’all can workout together #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork .
5* Take a minute after a hard session to think about how you felt & why! Ask your training crew for feedback.
6* Call up your training crew to see if they have recovered. Often you’ll find the crew has the same vibe, that means something so take note 📝.
7* If you feel you were uncomfortable in a session it could be because of so many reasons including it may have just been a bad day, they are important too they make the good feel so much better.
8* Trust in your surrounding support Coaches, Training crew, Physiotherapists, build each other up.
9* Don’t race your training! Train to race!
10* I like to do a 90% session once every 2 or 3 weeks all the rest are 70% .

An incredible and intense Kickboxing boot camp yesterday! We were lucky to have met up with an UFC Champion to kick start our day, @robwhittakermma was kind enough to take a photo with our group after his morning training session at Cronulla Sand Dunes.

Grandissima prova della Nazionale Norvegese che ha meritato ampiamente la vittoria con una prestazione straordinaria. In seconda posizione la Nazionale Ungherese con 15,5pt, che nonostante l'uomo in meno è riuscita a rimontare lo svantaggio sull'Italia solo all'ultima prova. Mezzo punto che per gli idoli di casa Castelli, Lestini, Mioduszewski e Sternativo costa molto caro.
