POSTPARTUM : STILL NOT THERE BUT GETTING THERE!
Around 39 weeks I was 147lbs, impatiently waiting to deliver Kaleb out.
It’s funny how back when I was pregnant I ate so much, never have I ever been that hungry round the clock —- Can’t even remember nor count how many burgers I ate, how many friend chicken I consumed and oh not to forget the pizza slices I devoured😅. Pre-delivery never had edema and pregnancy related ailments but post pregnancy Oh my I had edema all through out my entire body, to the point that I can’t even wear shoes and my sleepers were too tiny— I thought to myself Okay, this is the point of no return I will never be back to pre-pregnancy weight. HOWEVER, viola a month later I lost 20+ lbs (pre-pregnancy weight 110lbs), photo was taken 2 weeks ago which was a month post C-sec. I felt hopeless seeing myself post delivery but still hopeful that somehow I’d be able to get rid of some weight I gained. Again STILL NOT THERE BUT GETTING THERE! MORE DO LESS WON’T!

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapists are the BEST people to be rehab-ing perineal tears and birth trauma. We are the movement experts, musculo-skeletal experts, function experts, and scar tissue experts

We need to be working as a team, in collaboration with docs, surgeons, nurses, midwives, mental health providers, and fitness professionals, to make sure we are offering people who birth the best and most comprehensive care

It is ludicrous to me that if there is grade 3-4 perineal tear, that PT is not offered as standard of care, following the repair and healing. Just looking at this from a muscle/tissue/scar standpoint, PTs should be in this area, and we should be in there as soon as it is safe and appropriate to be

The pelvic floor DOES SO MUCH for us, and warrants professional and skilled rehab intervention after repair or trauma, just like any other part of our body that goes through trauma or repair or injury

I want everyone who gives birth to have a pelvic floor PT look at their bodies, assess their pelvic floor and abdomen, watch the way they move and lift and carry and nurse and sleep and sit and walk and drive and DO ALL THE THINGS, and determine if they need rehab. EVERYONE

Let\'s do this, let\'s change the way we are caring for birthing persons. Pelvic floor PT is conservative, safe, and appropriate. We are trained to assess and treat these issues, and if a patient is not appropriate for PT we absolutely confer with our medical and surgical colleagues and come up with a plan. We deserve a seat at the table for this population, and only good things can come of this when we collaborate, offer different solutions, and have a plan in place

How amazing is the human body?! In the last two weeks, I’ve received six units of blood (God bless all of you that donate blood!!), one unit of frozen plasma, ten rounds of penicillin (thank you, Group B Strep), and more bags of fluids than I can count.
So today I go into the OB for my first post-op appointment and actually feel excited for the weigh-in. For the second half of pregnancy, I didn’t even look at the scale because it was honestly really triggering for me. I just kept gaining and gaining and gaining. Today, I was excited to look because I have ankles and feet bones again and my legs actually look like the ones I’m used to seeing and less like tree trunks. The physical changes of pregnancy can do a number on a gal and they definitely did on me. I didn’t recognize myself anymore—I saw a new, pregnant Karianne when I looked in the mirror, but I didn’t feel like myself.
So TODAY...I am down FORTY pounds in the last two weeks thanks to a GIANT baby, huge placenta, and shedding tons and tons of water weight. I share this to celebrate that I’m starting to feel and look like myself again as I recover and I am so thankful for that. The human body is miraculous. One of my OB’s saw me and said, “Where were you hiding him??!!” I literally don’t know. I just know I’m thankful for our healthy boy and I think my body is badass for having carried him for so long and for having nurtured his precious life while on the inside. Mad props to this bod.

Rora is 6 months and has gone from happy little cherub, to anxious & screaming anytime I’m not in sight. This includes in the car... which is not ideal.

When we encounter those seemingly mundane moments of life after a loss, those moments when we \'forgot\' to take out the trash because it was \'their\' job and now they\'re gone, or other times when we are missing that which is no longer here, we have a few choices:

Ya’ll, my house isn’t clean like it used to be. I don’t cook as much as I used to. I’m not even sure how I never even make a dent in the laundry. I can’t seem to knock anything off my “to do” list for the past few months.
But guess what? I have two of the greatest little humans in the world playing in front of me. That’s all that matters. So ditch the feeling of “I’m not doing enough”, and just enjoy these blissful and fleeting moments of childhood. You’ll never wish you did more laundry, but you’ll regret the time you spent worrying about your “to do” list instead of soaking in your babies.

POSTPARTUM EXERCISE. This is almost 2 years ago when Ben was right around 2 weeks old. I went from exercising about 5x a week in my pregnancy to doing literally nothing other than moving from upstairs to downstairs after the birth. I was in our house doing pretty much nothing for 2 weeks. Which, I know is what you should do! Your body needs to rest and heal. However, I started to get a little stir crazy. ⠀

The few weeks right after you have your baby aren\'t the time to take on strenuous exercise so I would just put him in my Moby wrap and we would walk around our neighborhood. I think I started at about a 10 minute walk and worked up to 20-30 minutes over a few week period. It was very humbling to go from much more intense exercise to recognizing that my body couldn\'t do more than a 10 minute walk in those first few weeks. ⠀

Not only did I wear him in this wrap when we went for a walk but I would wear him in this ALL day. We practiced attachment parenting and he was on my chest pretty much all day every day for the first 6 weeks. Even the second 6 weeks of my maternity leave he was in constant contact with me. I can\'t wait for those newborn snuggles again soon!⠀

P.s. The Moby wrap is amazing! I wore Ben in the same wrap until he was almost 18 months. I would have kept wearing him but I was pregnant again and it was just uncomfortable as my belly started to grow. It takes a few times to practice putting it on but it is so worth it! I couldn\'t have lived without this thing!⠀

Here’s where I am: I do my best. Try to park by a corral, ask someone to take my cart or run quickly if it’s a little ways away.
BUT my first year with Guy I did not. I had a pretty bad case of Postpartum Anxiety and the idea of carrying my kid from the cart or leaving the cart or trying to park next to the corral or trying to ask someone to take my cart all brought on intense anxiety. Let alone the idea of leaving my child in the car while I put the car away. If you’ve ever had anxiety of any sort, you’ll know that the worst case scenario is constantly flooding your thoughts, so in this instance I was always panicked someone would steal my kid, turn me in to DCF, that the car would lock on its own...you get the idea. This time around I do not have PPA but I do have two kids, making putting away carts harder to do.
I once was trolled by someone who was very passionate about their belief that you should always, without excuse, be able to return the cart, and was not interested in seeing any other perspective or thinking about what it was like to even have children.
This is why I post today. So many of us make snap judgments about beliefs we have, not considering others’ circumstances in why they may be doing what they’re doing. I have the belief that most of us are just doing the best we can every day with what we have. Thankfully I do not take it personally when someone calls me a terrible human being for not taking back my cart, but someone else, who may be going through a rough time, might. In all our words and actions, let’s give people some grace. Let’s try to remember that we are all doing our best and maybe the person you think is a terrible human being simply has just had a different life or day than you have. And let’s also remember, people are actually paid to collect carts 😘

Truth is I’m kinda scared that I wont be as good of a mom to three kids.
.
Truth is I’m nervous about upsetting the “perfect” balance and routines we have at home now.
.
Truth is I don’t feel like starting all over when my kids are so much older and self sufficient.
.
Truth is I selfishly don’t want to give up my long, restful nights of sleep. Or my mornings when I can sleep in while my kids make themselves cereal and entertain themselves.
.
Truth is I’m worried about being able to “bounce back” physically and the amount of time it’ll take to get to where I was.
.
Truth is I have to find the balance between parenting my older set of kids with their needs, my newborn and my business while still maintaining my sense of self as a woman. Because I refuse to let myself go. Again.
.
Truth is I’m afraid my Postpartum Depression will make a big ugly comeback and I’ll lose myself. Again.
.
.
This isn’t to say I’m not looking forward to the cuddles, the nursing sessions, that newborn smell. I’m looking forward to watching my big kids interact with their baby sibling, teach him or her new things, to witness their new bond. It’s going to be beautiful. We are in such a better space now, physically, financially and emotionally to bring this new life into the world and I really can’t wait. But I get to be nervous, anxious and worried too. And I’m going to be honest about it all. .

We CHANGE after kids physically, emotionally,& mentally. Postpartum Depression looks different on every mother. Every mom can put a smile on even when she feels like crying. Why because we are the WORLD to our babies. We have to be STRONG. For myself it wasn’t trouble bonding with my baby. It wasn’t avoiding family or friends or even finding it hard to roll out of bed. This part of motherhood, maternal instincts came very natural to me. For me, it’s an anxiety. I’ve always been a worrier naturally but after giving birth, I noticed my worrying had turned into something much more overwhelming. Some mamas it can just be mental noise so I dismissed it. This anxiety was more though.My first postpartum journey I had such a hard time with others holding my son. I felt no one could protect him the way I did. I had fears of someone dropping him or hurting him•I’m not alone• I would check on baby during his nap every five minutes or even stare at the baby monitor to make sure I saw his little body was moving up & down•I’m not alone•I would have fears of someone attacking me while I load my kids in the car or trying to get into our house to hurt them•I’m not alone•We would have kid-free for date night or plans and anxiety would stop me from enjoying myself. I was so worried about my babies. I KNEW they were perfectly taken care of & safe.No one around me understood. An unsettling mom guilt rushed through me. Irrational fears of what ifs: Are they going to choke? sleeping safely? crying? What if baby suffocates? All crowded my mind, feeling my heart race, & feeling sick to my stomach. I remember pumping in bathrooms while out, with watery eyes thinking why am I here.I’M NOT ALONE.I know I need to remind myself -I’m not alone in this. We all suffer because we’re human. We learn to cope because we’re human. We learn to build a hard exterior because we’re human. We protect ourselves because we’re human.I’ve learned is that there’s no reason to hide. I’m not alone in this emotional ride of motherhood. Some just hide it better than others but this is real life. It’s hard. It’s messy and sometimes it’s too much to handle but even at its worst it’s still so beautiful.

Х*й знает какой там у меня по счёту день 😭 потому пусть будет по порядку 12. Вы не подумайте, я все ещё худею, несмотря на то, что тут ниче не пишу.
Просто все отпускаю и отпускаю свои образы )))) и самое главное, перестала усираться за весами! Т.е. не мониторю вес каааааждое утро как раньше 😄
И решила пока интуитивно питатьс, ибо на зал времени не хватает в эти дни, и графика никакого нет, потому бывает и сладкое проскакивает с мой желудок, но все равно, короче, за неделю - минус там около 1,5 кг.
Норм при минимальных усилиях 😊
И главное, я не страдаю и не циклюсь и не отказываю себе в чём-то.
