They can’t all be winners. Yeah, it’s a bummer that I won’t be going to Seattle to compete. But it doesn’t help to pout about it- heavier lifting in our program’s periodization resulted in better performances in heavier lifting, and the light-weight, fast WODs took a hit. Historically, heavier WODs have been where I was weakest, so it appears I may have taken steps in the right direction. This is just another learning experience. I’m playing the long game. I was convinced by @radzintrepid that getting up at 4:45am on a Sunday in order to train through a full Olympic triathlon with other members of @breakawaysquad was a great idea. .
I was convinced right up until the point my alarm went off at which point reality kicked in and it was all I could do not to turn the annoying noise off, roll over and go back to sleep. .
Luckily I didn’t!! And joined the others at 5:30 at Camana Bay to get the session underway, starting with a 750m swim (completed in 16:26) then a slow transition and out onto a 30 mile bike ride (completed in 1:23 - 21.3 avg) felt like a very comfortable ride and wasn’t too worried about the run. .
Three loop run course started off well but by the half way mark the sun was up, I realised I had (once again) seriously misjudged my hydration and was starting to stuffer. Was tempted to stop at the 4 mile turn point but managed to talk myself into carrying on and although the last couple of miles were tough I was so please to have completed them all.
6 miles done in 50:54 and 8:27 min/miles. Not quick but certainly my won’t complain .
Finished the session by jumping back into they pool to cool off! .
Now chilling and certainly feel I’ve earned my Sunday afternoon chilling by the pool!!

Finally got a break from teaching and was able to shoot a match. I decided to run production as usual but also try out the carry optics division. The dichotomy was I got to shoot more but also I had to remember two separate stage plans. This stage was fun with tons of partials and head shots! Either @bwalther9 or someone else on the 🎥

Another crazy hot session this morning! Once again due to shifts (and just be super slow getting myself up and out the door) I was running in the worse heat of the day. .
Today session was increasing heart rates at three minute intervals for 1:15
.
Starting off at a leisurely pace to warm up and enjoying the run but became increasingly less comfortable as the heart rate was increasing. The pace wasn’t quick and the heat certainly had me feeling sluggish!! .
Running along looking down the road and seeing no shade was tough and all I wanted was to get out of the heat! .
During my cool down jog home I stopped at Vela to cool down in the fountain. That cool water feels AMAZING when you’ve been out running in the sun for that long! .
Got in and took my standard position laying flat out on the cold tile floor under the fan until I’d cooled off enough to make it to the shower
.
It may not be pretty. But at least I’m getting it done !!

That's a good day of @crossfitlinchpin training. It's been a good while since I've hit a jerk at 245, I may have even had 250 in the tank. We'll save that for next time though. Cleans had a 3 second pause in the bottom of the catch. I did not listen to advice and tried to go balls out in the 1 mile runs. Very happy with that given the weather.
