On friday night I unveiled a #boardgame that I made in 4 days. My wife and I had been watching a lot of #slashermovies and playing a lot of the #fridaythe13thgame. At 11:30PM, just before heading to bed, I got the inspiration to make a #tabletopgame in the same vain as those properties.
The game is titled #YouWillNeverSeeNovember (short hand 'November') and the premise is a varied group of characters have woken up on a camp ground on October 31st, 10PM. Each has received a note saying that they there is one killer among them. They must survive the night or escape without being killed.
The mechanics include revealing the dynamic map, exploring cabins to find useful items, and a FEAR meter that, when it reaches a specific tier for each character, a debuff is instituted until they are no longer frightened.
The primary characteristic of the game is deception. The killer has many perks, but all of them will reveal himself. Early on, the Killer is very weak. However, he may draw into killer specific cards (like an instant-kill card if you share a tile) or warps. However, the Killer is not invincible, so he may want to stock up on killer cards and learn the strategies of the Victims before making decisions.
For instance, there is a car that fits 2 players. If the player with the car keys chooses to leave, whoever is in the car immediately escapes. In a game with 6 players, that leaves 3 other Victims for the Killer to target. Maybe its wise to stay hidden until 2 players leave to then only have 3 victims to worry about.
The goal for the killer is to simply kill as many people as he can. Meanwhile, the victims either need to survive a certain amount of rounds (still figuring out that one), escape in the car, or kill the killer. Then, you play again and if you're the killer, try and beat the previous 'score' and you'll have bragging rights.
By the way, everyone loved the game!
